Southern Style Hush Puppies

Living at the coast of North Carolina, we like Calabash kind seafood and hush puppies. I serve those hush dogs hot with home made honey butter and recent native fish fried up crispy and golden, MMMM MMMMM! I desire y'all get pleasure from those positive hush dogs as a lot as we do!


3/4 c self growing flour
1 c self growing corn meal (not mix)
1 big egg, frivolously beaten
1 small onion, finely minced (i use candy onion)
1 pinch garlic powder
1 pinch onion powder
1 pinch vintage bay seasoning
1 Tbsp sugar
3/4 to at least one c buttermilk
canola oil for frying
1. In big blending bowl, blend collectively flour and cornmeal. Add egg, onion and spices.
2. Add buttermilk and stir with fork simply till blended. Mixture have to be quite stiff. Add a bit bit extra buttermilk, if necessary.
3. Heat oil in deep fryer to 375 degrees. Drop dough by means of way of teaspoons into hot oil and fry till hush dogs rise to the best and are golden brown.
4. Remove from fryer and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with honey butter, if desired. Enjoy delicious southern kind hush puppies!
